...settling in to new spot here on Locust Point. Going to post pictures when I get a chance.
Mom has been here cleaning, decorating and organizing like I'm here for a fellowship! It feels very "homey" and is a comfortable place to rest/work/chill. My new-found, very benevolent and sweet Baltimore "family" adopted me and insisted that I make myself comfortable in their otherwise empty rowhouse.
I had my 10th treatment yesterday. I am having 40 total. It takes about 5 minutes to do a CT scan on my pelvis, they make adjustments according to the baseline CT and computer models, roll me back into the machine and radiate the "field" for 305 seconds. They have a Bose docking station in the treatment room and I make a new playlist each day, blasting tunes to drown the machine noise and just to help me relax.
Again, I feel so fortunate to be treating at this top notch facility! Though I don't feel or look sick, and have tremendous faith in my doctors and team, including God, the captain of the team, I am in a place where I encounter a lot of seriously ill people. I count my blessings that I have health insurance, resources to be here and a great support network enabling me! Thank you to all of you who are praying and sending me encouragement, good vibes and positive karma!
Hope to have more up on here when Mom quits runnning me around town! But I would be doing the same for any of my kids(or other family and loved ones, I know,...probably'd be worse!
Feel free to email me at dougfields@ymail.com. Be well, have peace and give love....D-

...
...here with Sherri at the Admiral Fell Historic Inn (allegedly haunted) on Fells Point, eastern end of the Inner Harbour. After sleeping in (& having great dreams about the Gators puttin' the smack-down on LSU--did that really happen??) , had a nice breakfast, we hit a street flea market, and now about to get on the water taxi and head to visit the rest of the harbour. The weather is perfect! Treatment was uneventful for first 3 days. I'll post more about that after Sherri goes home tomorrow. 3 down 37 to go! Peace and Love......D- :)

Heeeeere...!
Hola:
After packing car to the roof and leaving Bham Mon afternoon, made my way 7 hours to Troutville, Virginia--2:30a.m. Woke up to a beautiful, cool, crisp day with a hint of a coming fall and the beginning of changing leaves in the Appialachins! Walked accross the parking lot to Cracker barrel where I shared breakfast with locals, a few travelers and a table of about 20. it turned out to be the Lincoln Center (NYC) Jazz Ensemble touring with Wynton Marsalis. Strange convergence, but cool. I go way back with Wynton, from the time I saw him on the first Sting/Blue Turtles Tour in Gainesville in 1986. Didn't see Wynton....
After loading up on Maryland maps and brochures at the welcome center, arrived in a warm Baltimore to my "apartment" (more on that another time), unloaded my car while "hot flashing" and sweating profusely (I don't sweat)! Visited with roommates, very bright and cool "kids", then headed to my adopted boutique hotel, the Peabody for one last luxury before starting treatment today. Had dinner at Sacha's, great local neighborhood spot. Two girls came in and sat down at the bar next to me for dessert. I heard them tell the bartender they were from Alabama. Turns out, one is in Med School at UAB, rotating through here while her friend is down visiting her from NYC where she is a struggling actress. They were from Dothan and we knew mutual people--small pea we live on!
Back to the room for the "debate", fell asleep--during and after--rolled over and crashed!
Spoke to my precious family this morning and I off to the races today! Getting my first tattoo today--in fact, 3. Three small dots triangulating around my pelvis ("the radiation field") which will, GOD willing, symbolize the permanent, "no fly zone" in which my cancer will die!
Heartfelt thank yous to all who have reached out to my family and me--it means everything to have such love and support!! The prayers, positve energy and good karma is felt to my core!
I'll keep you apprised..............Peace and be well. Doug- :)
